For the last two days, there has been a lot of hoo-ha over the celebrities choice of attire at a recent local award show. The criticism has been intense, both by fans and fellow peers. While some called out the poorly executed ideas behind gaudy gowns and ill-fitted suits, others called out women for "promoting vulgarity."

The likes of Noor Bukhari, Bilal Qureshi, Simi Rahael among others took a dig at the western-style choices of the stars. Some came out in the defense of the artists and the latest personality to have spoken in the favour of letting women wear what they want is politician Sharmila Faruqi.

"Let them be!" the PPP leader shared on Instagram. "Stop judging women from their choice of clothes, they are adults, free and no one should be commenting on their choice of attire negatively: it’s a free world, live and let live!"

Further addressing the recent controversy surrounding veteran actor Bushra Ansari and a viral dance video, Faruqi added. "Let Bushra Ansari dance to her heart's content, why shouldn’t she? She has every right to do so. To all those who spread negativity out there, my advice would be to look within and sort out your own frustrations!"

A local fashion award show has been the talk of the town recently, with several people, celebrities included, taking to social media to criticise the participants' poor fashion choices. While some celebrities have criticised the lack of style and originality, others took to Instagram to question the ‘revealing’ outfits. Among the attendees were Urwa Hocane, Maya Ali, Aima Baig, Alizeh Shah, Ahmed Ali Butt, Adnan Siddiqui and Ayesha Omar.
