After mesmerising listeners with a soulful rendition of Mustafa Jaan-e-Rehmat and disappointing them with his recent original Raat, Atif Aslam has released his version of Noor Jehan’s Aashiyane Ki Baat and it is safe to say he is on a roll.

With the track titled Dil Jalane Ki Baat, Atif seems to have discovered the perfect centre between romantic numbers and his more devotional and spiritual offerings.

With a song like Aashiyane Ki Baat and its gut-wrenching poetry, Atif could have easily settled for an acoustic number but it's obvious he did not want to a pay a sub-par tribute to a song previously crooned by the Queen of Melody.

His version of the song – the music of which is courtesy of Saad Sultan – fuses elements of South Asian Classical music with a modern sound that almost mimics the structure of a trans number. The mid-song climax followed by a soft breakdown without disposing of the percussion entirely offers an almost heightened Qawali experience that can leave you wanting more.

Atif also hits all the right notes with the track previously impeccably crooned by Malika-e-Tarannum, while utilising his signature vocal belting technique. He seems to have made it clear that no one can do that better than him in Pakistan, at least.

While Dil Jalane Ki Baat features Raquel Valdez, Atif’s upcoming original Rafta Rafta is set to star Sajal Aly. Recently, a still from the alleged video of their song was leaked on social media, showing the duo shooting in Skardu. Neither Atif nor Sajal confirmed the news on their social media.
