Ramzan 16 marked five years since the passing of Pakistan’s beloved Qawwal and Naat Khwaan Amjad Sabri at 45 years of age. Sabri was targeted by gunmen while traveling by car to a television studio from his home in Liaquatabad. His death left a permanent gap, with the entire nation continuing to grieve the loss of one of the greatest qawwals the country has produced so far. His distinct voice is missed greatly by fans, who were delighted to detect incredible similarities between the voice of the late artist and his son, Mujadid Amjad Sabri.

The latter treated fans to a rendition of the widely-loved qawwali Bhar do Jholi during a Ramzan transmission, which was originally sung by the Sabri Brothers Gulam Farid Sabri and Maqbool Ahmed Sabri. Mujadid’s voice and style of singing immediately reminded fans of the great Amjad Sabri, with several taking to Twitter to point out the similarities. One fan tweeted about how it was difficult for them to differentiate between Mujadid’s voice and the voice of his late father. The user said, “I really just can’t differentiate in Amjad Sabri and Mujadid’s voice.”

Another pointed out how it is great to see Mujadid carrying on his family’s legacy. They wrote, “Feels so good to see Amjad Sabri’s son Mujadid Sabri carrying on the legacy of his father and forefathers. May he get the same fame and success as his father had. He has a very long way to go.”
