At least five people, including four women, were killed and two injured in an attack on a house in Nowshera, the police said Wednesday.

Unidentified men opened fire on a house in Nowshera’s Dak Ismail Khel area, according to a police spokesperson. The house belonged to a man named Niaz Ali.

Rescue workers shifted the bodies and injured to Rashid Hussain Shaheed Hospital. The police cordoned off the area.

According to the police, Anwer Ali married a woman of his choice earlier this year which seems to be the reason behind the attack. The victim’s wife was murdered four months back near a police station in the area. 

On Wednesday, the perpetrators barged into the victim’s house late night and opened fire. Ali was injured in the attack while five of his family members died.

The police have registered an FIR and have started investigations into the case.
